2013 Ford Escape, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ are top 3 Fuel Economy of vehicle

Fuel Economy of vehicle seems to be the prime consideration when people plan to buy a new car. The EPA has released fuel economy figures for three all-new or redesigned vehicles that go on sale later this year: the 2013 Ford Escape, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. All three models will have some of the highest fuel economy ratings in their classes.

The 2013 Ford Escape crossover SUV has three powertrains that have been rated by the EPA. With the Escape's base 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine, it will average 22/31 mpg city/highway. Front-wheel drive models with the optional 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder Ecoboost engine will get 22/30 mpg, while four-wheel drive models with that engine will get 21/28 mpg. The 2013 Escape also has an optional 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder Ecoboost engine, but the EPA hasn't tested it yet.

While no 2013 Escape powertrain has class-leading fuel economy ratings, the Escape does rank highly among non-hybrid compact SUVs for its fuel efficiency. The 2013 Mazda CX-5 tops the class with fuel economy ratings that reach 26/35 mpg. The 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport also leads the class with up to 25/31 mpg city/highway, and the 2012 Honda CR-V's two-wheel and all-wheel drive fuel economy ratings are nearly identical to the Escape's.

When it hits the streets this spring, the 2013 Subaru BRZ will be one of the most fuel-efficient sports cars available. Like its Scion twin, the 2013 FR-S, the Subaru BRZ has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with high fuel economy ratings that rank it slightly above the 2012 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. With a six-speed automatic transmission, the BRZ gets 25/34 mpg and a lower 22/30 mpg with its standard six-speed manual transmission. The Scion FR-S's ratings are identical to the BRZ's.

The $22,470 2013 Ford Escape, $24,200 Scion FR-S and $25,495 Subaru BRZ go on sale later this year. Save cost on fuel is not only thing you can do.
